Living with chronic pain often feels isolating, as those around you may not understand, leaving you with no choice but to push forward. Two years ago, I discovered the Veterans Alpine Challenge, supported by the Chronic Pain Centre of Excellence, which changed my life. Through education sessions on breathwork and cold-water therapy, I learned to manage my pain. More importantly, I found support from fellow Veterans who share the same struggles.
This experience helped me achieve milestones I never thought possible, including hiking with other Veterans and completing a triathlon despite chronic nerve pain. Without the knowledge and support from the Veterans and CPCoE, the triathlon wouldn’t have been possible. My hope is that more Veterans in debilitating pain discover that it is possible to overcome and live a full life.
